The teachers say: “The Women’s Development Cell began as an initiative to set up workshops with our students. We now have weekly sessions, where we spread the word of the “We Can’ campaign and make efforts to raise awareness on issues such as ending violence against women, human rights and eve teasing. You see, it’s our responsibility in our roles as lecturers to go beyond education and text books and raise awareness on such issues … a co-ordinated awareness drive is a process of empowerment and it allows us to effectively fight the indignities that women face. We’ve received a very positive response to the campaign and many of our students are eager to join the campaign.”
