“We will actively participate in the campaign," said Rumy Marzook, Commissioner General of Prisons, who attended the national launch (24 September 2004). On his personal request, campaign materials were handed over him. "The posters will be sent to all the prisons in Sri Lanka and displayed prominently,” he said.

Romanie Tambayah (Executive Secretary of Oxfam GB in Colombo) and Sumangalie Atulugama (Campaign Coordinator) met the Commissioner General and handed over the material to him (15 October 2004).

They also visited the female ward of the prison and met with the inmates. The Chief Jailer of the female ward, Kumari Ratnaweera, requested that the campaign assist in establishing a support network within the prison for the inmates and also conduct other awareness programmes relating to domestic violence.
