Twenty three-year-old Naveed Soomro from Hyderabad wanted to follow a career in computer engineering. Sadly, due to financial constraints he could not pursue the career path of his choice. He now works as a computer technician. Naveed learnt about ‘We Can’ when he visited the Hyderabad office to fix a computer problem. He took some of the campaign material home with him and it motivated him to join the campaign. He began visiting the office regularly to learn more about the campaign and how he could be involved. When he learnt that campaign enrolls thousands of Change Makers, he offered to develop software to maintain a database of Change Makers. Within a week, he was able to design software in line with the requirements of the campaign. Naveed shares his views: “Any contribution that I can make as computer technician and a Change Maker is a priority for me. As Change Maker, I feel I need to be a good citizen and help the campaign achieve its goal to end violence against women, especially ‘honour’ killings.
