The NGO Forum in Monaragala, a district in central Sri Lanka, held the district level launch of the CEVAW on 14 March. The Government Agent (Chief administrator) was the chief guest of the launch ceremony attended by members of the NGO forum and religious leaders of the Buddhist and Hindu community. The divisional secretaries of four divisions and police officers from 10 different police stations in the Monaragala district also attended the launch. The government officials and the religious leaders promised their support to the CEVAW. The Government Agent suggested that the campaign should create awareness about Domestic Violence among the government officials and police officers.
