Mahendra: Politicising Domestic Violence

Twenty one-year-old Mahendra of Thalaguddam village Yadagirigutta mandala, Nalagonda district, Andhra Pradesh, says, “My father is the sarpanch of the village. After being sensitised to the campaign issues, I have spoken to him about the campaign in the hope that will influence some of his decisions positively. I also spoke up when a girl was being harassed by a boy in the village and drew public attention to the issue. I must admit that I too used to pass comments when girls passed by. I have long since stopped such behaviour and urge others to stop harassing girls as well.”
