Annual General Meeting
In Bangladesh, more than 250 organisations from 40 districts are involved with the ‘We Can’ campaign. The members of the campaign include representatives from the NGO sector, women’s organisations, media, trade unions, and people from a cross section of the society. Recently, a National Committee comprising 32 members was formed.
On 27 and 28 February 2007, an Annual General Meeting of the National Committee was organised with the help of 120 organisations. Sultana Kamal, human rights activist and former advisor to the Bangladesh government, acted as chairperson and M.B.Akhter, Coordinator Gender Programme, Oxfam and Fowzial Khondkar, a Consultant with UNDP acted as co chairpersons of the National Committee.
The AGM discussed campaign strategies, future plans and lent concrete shape to them. The lessons learnt were used to remedy current campaign shortfalls. At the AGM, it was also agreed that the National Committee would guide the campaign in the coming two years and help form a steering committee.
