Twenty-year-old Anita Patel of Kheda district, Gujarat, says, “Drama is a powerful medium to bring about social change. We have been using drama to identify and explore the root causes of violence against women, question practices that increase risk or harm, speak of power relations in the family and society at large and suggest behaviour that is contextually and culturally appropriate. Most times, we involve the audience and ask them for ideas and suggestions so that remedies and alternate behaviour models are not prescriptions from outside but ideas suggested by people themselves.”
